What to do in Maghery?
Maghery Beach
A fabulous beach on your doorstep, perfect for all those early morning swims! Very popular with locals and visitors alike, a walk from here to Crohy Head provides spectacular views and a must do during your trip to Maghery.
Dungloe Town
Food and Drink
There is a cafe, pub and coffee shack in Maghery located across the way from the cottages for your day-to-day convenience. However, for evening meals and more variety Dungloe Town located a short drive away has many pubs/restaurants/ice cream parlours/ cafes to choose from.
Fishing
One of the more popular past times for holiday makers and locals. The coastline around Maghery is alive with fish and it’s a great way of taking in the ever-changing sky and coastal views of Donegal while line fishing in the area.
Golfing
All golf courses in this corner of Donegal are excellent Lynx Golf Courses with some of, arguably, the most scenic landscape of any course to keep you amazed throughout your round of golf! Courses like Cruit Island Golf Club and Gweedore Golf Club will keep you entertained in style.
Mount Errigal
Errigal Peak is the highest point of the mountain. The long climb begins at the car park
past the village of Dunlewey. Rising to the highest peak is the goal of every climber.

25 kms from the cottages.

Day Trip Must Do’s in Maghery
Slieve League
Arguably one of the most majestic views in Ireland the Slieve League Cliffs tower over the Wild Atlantic Ocean, they are the Highest Sea Cliffs in Europe and a hugely popular destination for all who visit Donegal, take in the sights of Killybegs, Kilcar, Muscross and Teelan on your way here, a day trip you will never forget.! Beautiful on a Summers day but equally fabulous on a winters day with the cashing of the waves to the cliffs face. The famed “secret Waterfall” location is along this route also, although some argue it is “not so secret” anymore due to the popularity gained through Instagram.
Aranmore Island Day Trips
The island of Aranmore is just a 20minute day trip from the fishing area of Burtonport in the Rosses area of West Donegal. During the summer months there is a departure evert thirty minutes operated buy two ferry companies, you can go as passengers on the ferry or take the car if you would like to explore more of the island. The scenery on the way to the island and around it stunning.
Glenveigh National Park
One of the most popular National Parks in Ireland, famed for its wild deer and home to Golden Eagle that can been seen while strolling through the vast Estate, Castle and Gardens, Tours are available on a daily basis here from the beginning of April to the end of October annually.
